Great Cello Concertos: Bruch, Dvorak, Saint-Saens

"Music makes life better. Music is a necessity. It is rich. It is imaginative. It is magnificent. And it is for everyone." - Gregor Piatigorsky

The legendary cellist Gregor Piatigorsky was a musician who had an innate flair for virtuosity tempered by exquisite taste in style and phrasing. His vibrant tone, with its kaleidoscopic nuances, possesses sweeping eloquence and grand artistry that are evident in this Masterworks Heritage release of his 1946 recording of Dvorak's famous Cello Concerto with Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra and his moving 1947 performance of Bruch's Kol Nidrei with the same forces. Also on this disc is the Saint-Saens' Cello Concerto - a Piatigorsky personal favorite - in a rare 1940 recording with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra led by Frederick Stock. Informative liner notes and great photos are included, and the remastered sound cannot be equaled. (First Compact Disc Release!)
